Handmade according to the original instructions of Dr Edward Bach, using his original methods and the exact plant species he identified.

Larch flower essence is traditionally associated with a lack of confidence in your own abilities and an expectation that you will fail. You may believe that other people are more capable than you, underestimate your own strengths or decide that something is beyond you before you have really given yourself the opportunity to try.

The Larch pattern can mean holding back from challenges, opportunities or experiences you would actually like to pursue because you assume you won't succeed. Rather than being unwilling to try, you may want to move forward but feel convinced that you do not have the ability, experience or confidence required.

Indications that Larch may be needed

  • Doubting your own abilities or believing you are not capable enough
  • Expecting to fail before attempting something new
  • Comparing yourself unfavourably with people you see as more capable or accomplished
  • Holding back from opportunities you would like to pursue because you assume you won't succeed
  • Underestimating your strengths, skills or experience

When Larch may be the right choice

Larch may be worth considering when the main thing stopping you is the belief that you are not capable of succeeding. You might avoid applying for an opportunity, sharing an idea, learning something new or taking on a challenge because you have already decided that someone else would be better at it.

This can sometimes appear as modesty or simply being realistic about your limitations. The distinction is whether you are accurately assessing a situation or consistently underestimating yourself and allowing the expectation of failure to prevent you from trying.

Previous disappointments can also reinforce a Larch pattern. An experience that did not go well may gradually become evidence in your mind that you are simply "not good at" something, making it harder to approach future opportunities with an open mind.

Larch and similar flower essences

Several flower essences from the Bach system can be relevant when confidence, hesitation or self-doubt are involved. Looking at what is actually stopping you can help distinguish between them.

Larch and Cerato

Both can involve a lack of confidence in yourself. Cerato is more closely associated with doubting your own judgement and looking to others for advice or reassurance, while Larch relates to doubting your ability and expecting that you will not succeed.

Larch and Elm

Both can involve doubts about your ability to cope or succeed. Elm is more appropriate when someone who is normally capable and confident temporarily feels unequal to their responsibilities, while Larch involves a more established expectation of failure that may prevent you from trying in the first place.

Larch and Mimulus

Both may cause you to hesitate or hold back. Mimulus is associated with a specific, identifiable fear about what may happen, while Larch is more closely connected with the belief that you are not capable enough to succeed.

The positive potential of Larch

As confidence in your own abilities grows, it becomes easier to approach new opportunities without assuming that you will fail. You can recognise your strengths more realistically and give yourself the chance to try, without needing to know in advance whether you will succeed.

The positive Larch state brings greater self-belief and a willingness to take on new challenges. Success and failure can both become part of learning, allowing you to discover what you are capable of without limiting yourself through self-doubt.

How to Use

This is a stock level essence that can be taken directly or combined with up to 6 other essences in a treatment bottle. If you'd prefer your chosen essences prepared for you, you can order a custom blend here.

When taking from the stock bottle, the recommended dosage is 4 drops at least 4 times a day, especially in the morning and before bedtime. For acute situations, you may take the essence more frequently.

Alternatively, for a more gentle effect you can add 4 drops to a glass of water to sip throughout the day. You can combine up to 7 essences using this method.
